* The Aim and Purpose of this Book:
Kumon Speed and Accuracy Workbooks help children perform calculations faster and with greater accuracy. Each book is divided into three sections:
• The Warm-Up section prepares your child for the work ahead by reviewing basic calculations and strengthening the foundation for improving speed and accuracy. Your child will also practice timing him- or herself while working.
• The Practice section provides training and repetition of more advanced calculations so your child has the opportunity to master these skills and gain confidence.
• The Sprint section allows your child to push his or her knowledge to the limit and achieve his or her greatest speed and accuracy.
On the first page of the Practice and Sprint sections, your child will log the amount of time it takes to complete the calculations; this is his or her base time. On each page thereafter, your child will set and aim for a new “Target Time” based on his or her time on the previous page. By rigorously practicing each specific skill, your child will naturally become faster and more proficient. By tracking his or her progress in the Speed & Accuracy Log, your child will be innately motivated to continue improving.

This workbook is designed for children to complete by themselves. By checking their answers and correcting the errors on their own, children can master important academic skills and also develop into self-motivated learners.
Each math skill takes plenty of practice to master. If your child struggles with any part of the book or consistently needs longer than the allotted time, we recommend providing additional practice and repetition. Please refer to the appropriate book from our other math products for more focused work.
